Sterling K. Brown is joining back with This Is Us creator Dan Fogelman for a new television project.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Hulu has given Fogelman a straight-to-series order for the currently untitled drama which will star Brown, possibly as a security guard to a former U.S president. There is not much known about the script aside from that plotpoint, and even that doesn’t seem to be completely definite. Brown will also executive produce.
The series was sold after Fogelman took his sepc script to 20th Television senior-level executives, according to the outlet. Fogelman has an overall deal with the studio.
Other executive producers include Jess Rosenthal, the head of Fogelman’s production company Rhode Island Ave. Productions. Rhode Island Ave.’s John Hoberg will also executive produce, bringing him back together with Fogelman after their tiem working on ABC’s Galavant and The Neighbors.
Currently, Fogelman is also executive producing Hulu hit comedy/mystery Only Murders in the Building. Brown, who has been wowing audiences with his antithetical turn in Honk for Jesus. Save Your Soul., will be next seen on Hulu’s Washington Black, a limited series based on Esi Edugyan’s novel set in the 1800s. According to Variety, the series is about an escaped slave named Washington “Wash” Black, who escapes from a Barbados sugar plantation and finds a mentor in Medwin Harris, a Black escapee himself who now lords over Black Halifax in Nova Scotia. Brown plays Medwin, while Ernest Kingsley Jr. plays Wash.
