*Jane Krakowski returns for Season 2 of the acclaimed comedy series “Schmigadoon!” but this time around — she’s playing a new character that allows her to tap into her musical theater roots.
Co-created by Cinco Paul and Ken Daurio, the six-episode season, per a press release, features all new original songs, and returning stars Keegan Michael-Key, Cecily Strong, Ariana DeBose, Martin Short, Dove Cameron, Jaime Camil, Kristin Chenoweth, Alan Cumming, Ann Harada, and Aaron Tveit, with Tituss Burgess and Patrick Page joining the cast for season two.
The Season 2 synopsis reads: “Having found true love in the town of Schmigadoon, season two of “Schmigadoon!” will find Josh (Keegan-Michael Key) and Melissa (Cecily Strong) in Schmicago, the reimagined world of ’60s and ’70s musicals.”
This season finds Josh falsely accused of murder so Melissa hires a high-power lady lawyer (Krakowski) to clear his name.

“When I first heard of the series I knew it was my dream job. I’m never happier than when I can be using all of my facilities, where I get to be on a comedic television show, get to do dance rehearsals in a dance hall rehearsal studio with the wonderful Chris Gatelli, and then work with incredible comedians and other Broadway greats,” the actress shared in our exclusive interview. “So this has always been my dream job. The fun thing about knowing we were going to make season two was finding out who we would all be in the new world of Schmicago.”
Krakowski added, “I think I love that we’re like Cinco’s troupe of players and we all get to change roles every season that comes around. And I can’t even describe my delight when I got to my pages and saw that I was going to be Bobbie Flanagan, lady lawyer. And just everything he put in there was spectacular. So I’m so thankful for what he wrote for me and couldn’t be more thrilled to exhaust my special skills list in my musical number.”
And of course, Bobbi has a big musical number this season that Jane is most excited about.
“It’s episode four and it is everything that Bobbie needs to do to get her clients off, basically to be proven not guilty<’ Krakowski shared. “But what Cinco has done so wonderfully is given me the opportunity to fly from the ceiling, to enter on a trapeze, to do the splits, to rollerskate, to throw in everything that I know how to do, all in all under the guise of the law.”
“Schmigadoon!” debuts Wednesday, April 5 with the first two episodes, followed by one new episode weekly, every Wednesday through May 3, exclusively on Apple TV+.
