If you’re not a fan of “Love After Lockup,” let us catch you up real quick.
Monique Robinson and Derek Warner have gained a lot of attention as the stars of the newest season of WEtv’s “Love After Lockup.” Despite their vastly different appearances, the two met while Derek was serving a nine-year sentence in prison and developed a relationship through letters. They first started conversing when he had two years left on his sentence, which was right at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Their story of finding love after incarceration has captured the interest of viewers, who tune in every week to see how they navigate their relationship. Monique is a plus-size woman, while Derek is a small man with a big personality, leading to some criticism about their size difference. Recently, the couple appeared on Angela Yee’s new show “Way Up” to discuss their relationship and how the public has reacted to their unique dynamic.
Monique and Derek have been embroiled in constant drama since appearing on the reality series. Whether they were arguing with each other or getting into conflicts with Derek’s sisters, Elizabeth (who is trans) and Aubryanna, it seems like drama has been the norm for them.
It was revealed in an interview with TV producer Carlos King that Derek cheated on Monique approximately 10 times since being home from his sentence. Derek revealed he gave in to temptation due to their long-distance relationship. (Mo lives in Illinois and Derek lives in Ohio).
However, they have decided to work through their issues and stay together.
Then….an arrest!
Yesterday, Derek found himself back behind bars! The “Love After Lockup” star was arrested for felonious assault and was subsequently brought to Lorain County Jail.
In accordance with the state laws of Ohio, the act of felonious assault is categorized as a second-degree felony and takes place when an individual utilizes a dangerous and potentially lethal weapon to cause “serious physical harm to another person or to an unborn child.”
According to Instagram content creator @kikiandkibbitz, Derek was apprehended while leaving a restaurant where Monique was waiting for him in the car.
After being released, Derek hopped on IG Live to share his arrest stemmed from previous charges from 2021 (when he was locked up) and it’s nothing new. Swipe above for his response.
Shortly after being booked, Derek was able to post a $10,000 bond and was allegedly released in less than an hour. See the arrest records below:
Derek posted a screenshot of a letter written by his lawyer, who also stated that his arrest was related to an altercation that occurred two years ago while Derek was still incarcerated.
An announcement was made by WeTV that Derek and Monique would make a return to “Love After Lock Up” after their story was not featured in the episode that aired last week.
Derek’s sister, Elizabeth, made accusations that WEtv put a hold on the couple’s filming due to Derek allegedly assaulting Monique, but that has not been confirmed.
”I have peace within me, I can careless about the chaos around me,” Monique wrote in the caption of her latest Instagram post.
