*Yung Joc appeared on the Hollywood Groupchat podcast and was asked by host Mehgan James how he has been able to “sustain a 20-year career off of one-hit.”
Joc reacted to the viral clip in a statement to The Shade Room, saying James’ remark hit “below the belt.”
“It’s just y’all got a chance to see it from somebody y’all may not be as familiar with, so it’s like, ‘Oh, the nerve,’” he said. “And that’s how I felt too.”
On Twitter, one user said of the clip, “Rude but this clip definitely made me wanna watch him humble her.”

Another commented, “i hope joc humbled her but knowing how laid back he is I doubt it! Joc has more than one hit and real music lovers know that.” A Third Twitter user said, “This mad cringe. I woulda left this nothing axx podcast immediately.”
“Having talentless people question your legacy because they have an internet platform is wild crazy,” another commenter noted.
As Complex reports, James received hella backlash online, prompting her to question how male influencers like comedian Funny Marco can use the same humor and energy when interviewing celebs but people only get upset when it’s coming from a woman.
Joc, meanwhile, said going forward he will only appear on podcasts hosted by people with whom he has an established rapport.
