The release of Mo’Nique’s Netflix special, My Name is Mo’Nique, is closer than ever with the release of the official trailer.
The trailer shows Mo’Nique back doing what she became a Queen of Comedy for–telling jokes that reflect her life and her views on the world. According to the official description:
Mo’Nique delivers a career defining, powerhouse stand-up performance in her unprecedented return to the stage. Filled with laugh till you cry stories as well as soul baring emotion, Mo’Nique promises that by the end of the show you will understand why she is the way she is, and true to form, she delivers. From the mean streets of Baltimore and remembering her Grandma Mimi’s warnings about men, to why she “ACCEPTS” the sometimes-harsh realities that come with life, Mo’Nique with her unique brand of candor, fearlessness, and humor reveals all of herself, and leaves nothing on the table.
My Name is Mo’Nique is directed by L. Frazier and executive produced by Mo’Nique and her husband and business partner, Sidney Hicks. The special drops April 4.
This is the first of two Netflix projects Mo’Nique will star in after settling with the company for discrimination bias. She will star in Lee Daniels’ upcoming Netflix film, The Deliverance, marking yet another positive turn in her life–reuniting with Daniels after years of feuding.
