Jharrel Jerome is taking on wrestling in an upcoming Amazon and Artists Equity film.
Deadline reports that Jerome will star as wrestler Anthony Robles in Unstoppable. The I’m a Virgo star will play opposite Jennifer Lopez. Billy Goldenberg directs.
Back in 2018, The Chi star Jason Mitchell was set to star in a film as Robles. Fast forward to present day, the film will be the second film as a result of Amazon’s partnership with Artists Equity, the company created by Matt Damon and Ben Affleck. The first from this partnership, Air, following the history-making deal between Michael Jordan and Nike, will premiere April 5 in theaters.
Unstoppable will cover Robles life, which includes the wrestler achieving over insurmountable odds. Robles was born without a leg, but was able to excel at wrestling, earning the 2010-2011 NCAA wrestling title. Deadline reports that the wrestler also broke the Guinness world record for post pull-ups in a minute in 2019. As we reported in 2018, the film will be based on Robles’ book, Unstoppable: From Underdog to Undefeated: How I Became A Champion.
