*Former Apple Music executive Larry Jackson has announced the launch of gamma (with a lowercase “g”) a multi-platform company focused on music, films, merchandise, podcasts fashion, Web3, and more.
It also includes Jackson’s collaboration with major brands and artists such as Snoop Dogg and Death Row, Usher, Naomi Campbell, Rick Ross, and The Shade Room, according to Variety.
Jackson’s gamma has a slew of high-profile financial backers including Todd Boehly’s Eldridge Industries, A24, and Apple, where the A&R guru previously served as Global Creative Director.
Jackson credits Drake for motivating him to make gamma a reality. His Aha! moment occurred when he heard Lil Wayne’s “Family Feud” track, on which Drake raps “Someone get Larry Jackson on the phone. I need some ownership if we pressin’ go.”

Those lyrics inspired Jackson to get serious about an idea for his own venture that had brewing for some time.
“I really sat down and started to reflect on my life,” Jackson said recently in an interview, Billboard reports. “What if there was another level to the video game?”
Jackson’s gamma is said to have access to $1 billion in equity and debt. As Yahoo reports, per a statement from the company, its “capabilities revolve around three pillars — content creation, content distribution, and development of the artist-centered business enterprise.”
Additionally, gamma “operates in distinct but connected business segments: recorded music, visual content, media, creative agency, and direct-to-consumer products.”
The ultimate goal for gamma is to “become the new radio, where you could actually break records.”
“Having the whole thing A to Z creates kind of a farm-to-table situation,” Jackson says. “Everything can’t be about one place where you break music – I’m not going to say what that one place is, but you know what I’m talking about. For us, as a company, I’m looking to decrease our dependence on outside sources. I don’t see that being done anywhere.”
