*Dwyane Wade’s transgender child Zaya Wade walked in Miu Miu’s Paris Fashion Week show on Tuesday.
The occasion marked Zaya’s runway debut, Page Six reports. Zaya’s catwalk moment comes after the teen was granted an official name and gender change on Feb. 24. At age 12, Wade’s son Zion came out as gay and embarked on a journey as a transgender female who now goes by the name of Zaya. The 15-year-old has since landed lucrative modeling contracts with brands like Tiffany and Dove.
Zaya’s dad and stepmother Gabrielle Union sat front row at the Miu Miu show this week.
“I’m not crying, you are,” the former NBA player captioned an Instagram Story of Zaya walking the runway.

Wade opened up about Zaya’s trans journey in February 2020 while appearing on the Ellen DeGeneres Show.
“[She] said, ‘Hey, so I want to talk to you guys. I think going forward, I’m ready to live my truth. And I want to be referenced as she and her. I would love for you guys to call me Zaya,’” Wade explained at the time. “Now it’s our job to one, go out and get information, to reach out to every relationship that we have. We’re just trying to figure out as much information as we can to make sure that we give our child the best opportunity to be her best self.”
Wade shares Zaya with ex-wife Siohvaughn Funches, who unsuccessfully fought her ex to stop him from moving forward with Zaya’s name and gender change.
Funches claims Wade is exploiting their child for financial gain. As reported by The Blast, Siohvaughn took legal action to prohibit her son from changing the name and gender listed on the birth certificate. Siohvaughn claims she had a conversation with Wade during which he allegedly admitted that “a lot of money had been already made and that additional money will be made in relation to our child’s name and gender issue.”
She believes Wade encouraged Zaya’s gender change “in order to capitalize on financial opportunities.”
Wade, meanwhile, says he wants Zaya to “live more comfortably and honestly in all aspects of her life.”
