*Ne-Yo is set to release a short documentary titled “Ne-Yo: In My Own Words.” The three-time Grammy award-winning artist will use the documentary to narrate his journey as a successful R&B hitmaker, actor, iconic songwriter, entrepreneur and philanthropist.
The doc opens with the Las Vegas native disclosing, “I realize that I was going to do music at nine years old.”
Ne-Yo has sold more than 20 million adjusted albums worldwide and still counting. He released his first album, “So Sick,” around 2005; it topped the Billboard Hot 100. It was also a certified quadruple Platinum. Ne-Yo continued to release great hits, such as “Miss Independent,” “Push Back” (featuring Bebe Rexha and Stefflon Don), “Because of You,” “Closer,” and “Sexy Love.”
Three of his albums have entered SoundScan’s Top Current Albums chart at No. 1. As a songwriter, he is credited with writings songs such as Beyoncé’s 2006 breakup anthem “Irreplaceable,” Rihanna’s “Unfaithful,” “Russian Roulette,” and “Take a Bow.”

He has also penned songs for other singers such as Usher, Jennifer Hudson, Carrie Underwood, and Celine Dion.
The upcoming short documentary will trace the music icon’s journey as he struggled to make his first album. It will also look into how he balanced his career with family life and the challenges he dealt with in 2020. There are also behind-the-scenes footage, intimate interviews, and his deep thoughts on the value of family. Ne-Yo also gets to enumerate the events that have defined him and the world.
It is a story of perseverance and determination, told through his own lenses. It highlights his passion for and thoughtful dedication to music.
