*Fans of the series “Luther” are in for a treat as the new film adaption has finally arrived!

The “Luther” series starring Idris Elba ran from 2010-2019, and the actor has reprised the role for the hotly anticipated feature film titled “Luther: The Fallen Sun.”

Per Netflix, here’s the official synopsis: “In the epic continuation of the awards-winning television saga, reimagined for film, a gruesome serial killer is terrorizing London while brilliant but distracted detective John Luther sits behind bars. Haunted by his failure to capture the cyber psychopath, who now taunts him, Luther decides to break out of prison to finish the job by any means necessary.”

Starring alongside Elba in the upcoming film is Cynthia Erivo, Andy Serkis, Dermot Crowley, Jess Liaudin, Lauryn Ajufo, Natasha Patel, and Henry Hereford.

I caught an advanced screening of “The Fallen Sun,” and NO SPOILERS — but it’s full of exciting twists that may not be too surprising for longtime “Luther” fans who are familiar with the backstory. For newcomers, I’m sure after you watch it, you’ll want to deep dive into Luther’s past and binge-watch the series.

“Luther: The Fallen Sun,” was directed by Jamie Payne and written by Neil Cross. It opens in select U.S. theaters on February 24 and starts streaming via Netflix on March 10.
