Tony Evans Jr. Creates Space for Country-defined R&B in the Pop Landscape | LISTEN

*Country singer-songwriter Tony Evans Jr. is set to release his debut EP, Starless, independently on March 10, 2023.   With his lyrically driven songs, his captivating vocals remind listeners of the classic country crooning while also adding a relevant and fresh perspective.

CMT.com writes that Tony’s “[flair pulls] with his crystalline baritone, movie star good looks and undeniable country covers.”

Born and raised in Atlanta, the Nashville-based artist and self-taught guitar player, Tony commands with powerful narratives and intricate guitar picking.

The country music newcomer worked with renowned producer/ A&R executive Ron Fair and hitmaker Fred Wilhelm on Starless.

One of the top newspapers in the US,  The Tennessean, gushed that Tony is reminiscent of R&B great Teddy Pendergrass “[as] in aiming for an R&B to country crossover. It’s an important note for contextualizing Evans’ potential.”

His first single, “Need Somebody” (released Feb 3rd), went viral on TikTok and Instagram. He saw his audience double in a matter of days. Tony’s music explores the uncertainty, nostalgia, and regret that comes along with realizing your voice and letting go of your past.
