Per the docs, the rapper (born Marshall Mathers) makes clear that he has long been known by his Slim Shady and Shady monikers. Eminem also owns the trademark to use the terms on merch and his records.
He believes the Reasonably Shady podcast could cause “confusion” and damage his brand.
“The marks Slim Shady and Shady have become and are an extremely valuable symbol of Mathers, his reputation and goodwill,” the legal doc reads.
Meanwhile, Em was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in November. During his acceptance speech, he revealed how he nearly died from an overdose in 2007.
“I almost died from an overdose in 2007, which kind of sucked. Hailie, plug your ears: because drugs were f—ing delicious, and I thought we had a good thing going man, but I had to go and f— it all up and take too many. God damn. OK Hailie,” he said, referring to his daughter.
Meanwhile, we reported previously that Eminem and 50 Cent are working on an “8 Mile” television series that will chronicle Em’s early years.
“I think it should be there for his legacy because it’s important to me that they understand it,” 50 Cent said during an appearance on BigBoyTV.
