Questlove Discusses Disney Junior’s NAACP Image and Annie Award-nominated ‘Rise Up, Sing Out’ | WATCH

*Oscar®-winning filmmaker and musician Ahmir “Questlove” Thompson (“Summer of Soul”) and his bandmate Tariq “Black Thought” Trotter (“The Roots”), with executive producer Latoya Raveneau (director, “The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder), and Lion Forge Animation (“Hair Love”) in collaboration with Disney Junior, have delivered an uplifting animated musical short-form series, “Rise Up, Sing Out,” which is currently nominated for Outstanding Short Form Series – Comedy or Drama at this year’s NAACP Image Awards, as well as Best TV/Media – Preschool at the Annie Awards (both taking place on February 25).

Geared towards kids, parents, and caregivers, “Rise Up, Sing Out” is designed to be inspiring, empowering, and optimistic about race, culture, community, and celebrating differences. Questlove and Black Thought produced the music, are executive producers of the series, and are depicted as animated characters in the series as well.
