Looking for carry on essentials from Black-owned companies? Travel Noire’s got you covered!
We celebrate Black history all year long here at Travel Noire, but when Black History Month rolls around each year, we make an extra effort to support our Black-owned entrepreneurs who are breaking barriers and changing the status quo.
Recent data from the U.S. Census Bureau’s Annual Business Survey shows that Black-owned businesses are growing. In 2019, there were nearly 135,000 Black-owned employer businesses in all sectors of the U.S. economy – an 8% increase from 2018. The Census Bureau defines employer businesses as businesses with more than one employee.
Even though there are more Black-owned businesses, it can be challenging for them to survive. A reported eight out of 10 Black-owned businesses fail within the first 18 months.
We want to do our part in making sure our businesses survive and thrive. Below is a list of Black-owned items to pack in your carry-on.
Bolden Brightening Moisturizer & Sunscreen
Taking care of your skin doesn’t stop because you’re on vacation. We do recognize, however, the hard part of taking care of yourself while traveling comes down to space and convenience. It’s not always convenient to pack your favorite products, especially if they exceed TSA gel and liquid requirements.
But, we found a solution.
Bolden has a daily facial sunscreen and moisturizer perfect for Black skin. The brightening moisturizer is packed with Vitamin C and safe for sensitive skin. But, do you want to know the best part? It’s small enough to pack in your carry-on and meets TSA standards.
amCase Water Resistant Travel Sleeve
If you’re traveling for work and need something light for your work equipment, the amCase laptop case is perfect for you. The case was designed to fit up to 12-inch laptops and tablets.
What we love about this case is that it’s water-resistant, has extra padding to protect your technology and has pockets on the front and side for additional accessories.
Black Card Revoked Game
If it’s one thing we all learned from the Southwest winter ’22 debacle, we must be prepared to spend a long time in the airport. Have the game Black Card Revoked in your carry-on when you get tired of scrolling on social media or reading a book. It’s a great option if you’re traveling with friends and family, and need to be entertained at the airport.
If you’re unfamiliar with Black Card Revoked, it’s a trivia card game that celebrates American Black pop culture.
We do need to warn you that there aren’t “real rules” to the game. Correct answers are on the back of the cards. If you get it wrong, know you risk having your Black Card revoked.
Forevermore Portfolios Travel Organizer
The Forevermore Portfolios is a faux leather folio that can fit your phone, tablet, cards and passport.
It’s designed for daily use and made with vegan leather to last. There are three colors to choose from: black, brown and grey. You can also customize your folio with your name or a quote.
CEEK 4D Headphones
If you’re not an earbud or AirPods user because you’re afraid to lose them, CEEK has wireless headphones that fit over your ear.
CEEK 4D’s connect to android and iPhones, and will play music for up to 12 hours when fully charged. The built-in microphone also allows you to talk hand free, while allowing the person on the other line actually to hear you.
