Amber Rose gets candid about how she’s teaching her kids about feminism and body positivity.
It has become increasingly challenging for parents to protect their children from inappropriate content due to the widespread use of social media. With constant access to the internet through smartphones and laptops, kids are exposed to an abundance of information and images that may not be suitable for their age.
The “Slut Walk” organizer is getting ahead of the game with her children by being open about her past because what they don’t learn from her, they may find out via social media, or classmates, as they get older.
The 39-year-old model is the mother of two children. She shares a 9-year-old son, Sebastian Taylor Thomaz, her ex-husband Wiz Khalifa, and a 3-year-old so, Slash Electric Alexander Edwards, whom she shares with her ex-boyfriend Alexander “AE” Edwards.
During an interview with Emily Ratajkowski on the “High Low” podcast, Amber revealed how open she is with her children about sex work, saying she’d already told her son Sebastian about her OnlyFans account and her past as a stripper. She felt it would be better for him to hear it from her than find out via social media.
“Your son, by the time he’s 5, is going to start Googling you and seeing everything,” Amber explained.
She said that one of Sebastian’s classmates recently told him about her work on OnlyFans.
“I had a whole conversation with him about it [OnlyFans],” she said. “I said that whoever told him that, their parents are ignorant because obviously he got it from his parents.”
She shared she overheard Sebastian defending OnlyFans creators after one of his classmates bullied him about his mom’s online activity.
”’Bro, you can’t say that,'” she claimed Sebastian said. “‘You have to let a woman do what she wants with her body. That’s not cool. You can’t do that.'”
”A tear rolled down my cheek,” Amber continued. “I was like, ‘That’s my f***ing baby.’ I instilled that in him from birth.”
She said she “just explained everything” to him and shared the importance of understanding a woman’s right to do what she wants with her body.
“‘When it comes to women, you have to let women do what they need to do to support their families,'” she said she told her son. She explained to Sebastian that “mommy has to make money” to pay for his “nice school” and their vacations to Six Flags and Universal Studios.
Amber said she talked to him about stripping in an effort to “desensitize” him to the profession.
Not only that, she has been open with him about women having menstrual cycles.
“Anytime I use the bathroom [since] my son was 2, 3 years old, he’ll be like, ‘Mommy, do you need a tampon? Do you need a pad, Mommy? I’ll go in a drawer and get it for you,’” she said. “I’ve told him about everything.”
During the conversation, Amber also talked about getting out of a toxic relationship with her ex, AE, and focusing her time on herself and her children. You’ll recall, AE publicly admitted to cheating on Amber in 2021 before they decided to call it quits.
“I just got out of a really, really sh*tty relationship, and so now, I’m not gonna make the same mistake I did before, like I’m just gonna like, just focus on me and my kids. I don’t have to go and have a one up. I don’t have to force myself to date people that I don’t want to date. I just don’t, it’s not real life. This whole sh*t, everything is so fake,” she said.
