*Actress Lauren London is speaking out about how she was able to manage her grief and bounceback from heartbreak after losing her boyfriend, rapper Nipsey Hussle.
London appeared recently on “The Drew Barrymore Show” to discuss her new film “You People,” and she made time to credit her children for helping her through the healing process after losing Hussle to gun violence in 2019.
Directed by Kenya Barris, the new Netflix comedy “You People” stars Lauren and Jonah Hill as Ezra Cohen and Amira Mohammed — a couple who met over a rideshare mix-up in LA and find themselves connecting over a shared love of streetwear and music.
As the two grow closer and begin to take steps towards a more permanent status, their respective families test their relationship: Ezra’s progressive and semi-woke parents (Julia Louis-Dreyfus and David Duchovny) and Amira’s unyielding yet concerned parents (Eddie Murphy and Nia Long).

The description of the movie on Netflix reads, “Families and cultures clash when two LA millennials from different backgrounds fall in love and face the ultimate relationship test: meeting the parents.”
“I’m very apprehensive of working right now, just grieving still and just building a new life so I’m very intentional of who I work with and Kenya just created a really safe space and so did Jonah,” London told Barrymore about the film, The Blast reports. “This is a new pool that I’m swimming in, so Kenya, knowing him, trusting him and respecting him really helped.”
London went on to explain how her two sons, Kameron Carter, 13, who she shares with rapper Lil Wayne, and Kross Asghedom, 6, Nipsey’s son, are the reason why she finds the courage to get up every day.
“Every day is different, and so some days you don’t want to, you just want to lay there,” she said. “My big reason is my children, because they do deserve a really happy mom and they deserve joy and they deserve a house that has music playing and incense going and light coming in the windows. They deserve that. And you know, when you lose someone, they’re on the other side wanting you to continue life as well.”
London said she is “obsessed” with her kids. “They are such a big part of why I get up in the morning and have hope and joy because they deserve so much love and joy,” she added.
