2022 is still full of surprises.
Karrine “Supahead” Steffans, now known as Elisabeth Ovesen, is about to become a mom again!
The video vixen-turned-author took to Instagram to announce she’s expecting her second child, her first with celebrity chef Kwame Onwuachi.
The 44-year-old mom-to-be shared a photo of a positive pregnancy test with the caption, “For some women, women like me, these two lines are scary. They conjure feelings of fear and anticipation, anxiety and confusion.”
She opened up about her past pregnancy trauma, filled with appointments about life or death. Despite it all, she’s looking forward to what’s to come.
”Memories of past reproductive and pregnancy traumas rise to the surface,” she continued. “Frantic calls to the doctor, emergency appointments, blood work and ultrasounds — not just to check on the new life developing inside, but the scars, the tumors, the cysts. Appointments about life and death. Discussions about the dangers associated with pregnancy and birth at this age, with this trauma. Bed rest is certain and nothing else.”
The best-selling author went on to thank her partner, 33-year-old chef Kwame Onwuachi, for “the most exciting, most terrifying gift.”
She continued, “Thank you, @chefkwameonwuachi for the most exciting, most terrifying gift. I don’t know what comes next, but I know I can’t do it without you. I hope everyone enjoys their NYE plans. I’ll be in bed and off social for a bit … praying for a miracle. (These nails tho)”
Chef Onwuachi, based in Los Angeles, is a Nigerian-American Bronx native who appeared as a contestant on Bravo’s “Top Chef” in 2015 and returned for several episodes as a guest judge. Over the years, he has been recognized for his cooking abilities by Food & Wine magazine where they named him one of its Best New Chefs in 2019, and he was named the ”Rising Star Chef Of The Year” by the James Beard Foundation.
In 2019, he published a memoir titled “Notes from a Young Black Chef.” He judged “Top Chef Amateurs” in 2021 and appeared on an episode of Selena Gomez’s HBO Max series, Selena + Chef, that same year.
Kwame was previously engaged to “Summer House” Season 6 star Mya Allen. In 2016, he popped the question to Mya at her family’s home in Boston six month of dating. The duo ended their engagement in late December 2020 to early 2021, six months after she left to film “Summer House” that July.
Now, he’s about to become a dad for the first time. His child with Karrine will have a sibling as the former video vixen shares an older child, Naim Wilson, with rapper Kool G Rap.
