The Grammy-winning rapper and “Making the Band” producer invested at least $10 million into the deal, TMZ reported Friday.
Sources close to Diddy told the entertainment news outlet that he believes in Musk’s vision for the microblogging site, without clarifying what that vision might be.
Musk, whose current Twitter bio reads “Twitter Complaint Hotline Operator,” finalized his purchase of Twitter last week.
The South African-born billionaire did so with the financial help of Wall Street banks, as well as some very wealthy investors, reportedly Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey and Saudi Arabian Prince Alwaleed bin Talal.
In his first days as the head of the social media giant, the 51-year-old Tesla CEO has met with a group of civil rights leaders about his plans for content moderation; has gotten into a Twitter feud with Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez; and began laying off staffers on Friday.
Diddy, 53, and Musk have made a few public appearances together this year, including at a comedy show at the Hollywood Bowl in May and at a listening party for Kanye West’s “Donda 2? album in Miami in February, TMZ reported.
