The time has come. Rihanna is back and her fans are freaking out – in a good way.

The FENTY honcho made her highly-anticipated return to the music scene, dropping a new track titled “Lift Me Up,” which is the lead single from the upcoming Black Panther: Wakanda Forever original soundtrack. Music fans have been desperate for new music from RiRi as it has been over six years since her last release, ANTI. The Bajan beauty has been busy building her skincare, makeup, and lingerie empire. Now, she’s back to the music.

“Lift Me Up” is a special tribute to the late actor Chadwick Boseman, who starred as Wakanda’s leader, Black Panther/King T’Challa. Sadly, Chadwick passed away in 2020 at the age of 43 after a private, four-year battle with colon cancer.

The song was written by Rihanna, Tems, producer Ludwig Göransson and Wakanda Forever director Ryan Coogler. “Lift Me Up” was recorded in five countries and was produced by Göransson.

“Keep me in the warmth of your love when you depart / Keep me safe / Safe and sound,” Rihanna sings on the track.

It definitely feels like “Lift Me Up” is ushering in a new era for the Pop princess, who became a mother back in May.

After the song’s release, Rih showed love to Nigerian singer Tems, who co-wrote the track with Rih, Ludwig and Ryan. Taking to social media, Tems posted the coverart for the track with the caption, “Blessed to have written this song in honour of Chadwick Boseman and even more blessed to hear the baddest @badgalriri voice it to perfection.”

The Grammy-winning singer hopped in her comments to react:

”It’s the pen for me,” Rihanna wrote, adding, “love to you sistren.” Tems responded with heart emojis.

The angelic song will give you all the feels as you listen to the lyrics and think about the late Chadwick Boseman.
