The 74th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards will air later this year on NBC and Peacock
It’s officially Emmys season!
The awards show celebrating the best of television returns this fall and Tuesday morning the nominations for the “74th Primetime Emmy Awards” were announced. Shows like “Abbott Elementary,” “Succession” and “Stranger Things” earned big nominations.
The primetime Emmy Awards are set to air on Monday, September 12 on NBC, as well as Peacock, while the Creative Arts Emmys will take place the preceding week on Saturday, Sept. 3 and Sunday, Sept. 4. The Emmys recognize the best work in television throughout the year, from comedies, dramas, limited series and more.
“Abbott Elementary,” Quinta Brunson’s hit ABC comedy, earned several nods. Brunson herself earned nominations for Comedy Series, Writing For a Comedy Series and Lead Actress in a Comedy. Co-stars Janelle James and Sheryl Lee Ralph were also nominated for their performances. In addition to Brunson, another multi-hyphenate, Issa Rae, also nabbed a Lead Actress in a Comedy nomination for her final bow as Issa Dee on “Insecure.”
Earning the most nominations with 25 nods was “Succession,” HBO’s critically acclaimed drama following the Roy family and their media conglomerate, WayStar RoyCo. As theGrio previously reported, Sanaa Lathan had an exciting guest role in the show’s third season as an adviser to Jeremy Strong’s Kendall Roy. Lathan received a nomination for Guest Actress in a Drama Series for her performance.
