HISTORY! ‘Y&R’ Star Mishael Morgan Becomes First Black Woman To Win Daytime Emmy For Outstanding Lead Actress!

History was made this weekend as “Young & The Restless” star Mishael Morgan became the first black woman to win the Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress! More on the bomb achievement inside.

Trinidadian-Canadian bombshell Mishael Morgan SLAYED as sometimes-lovable villain Amanda Sinclair on the iconic soap “Young & The Restless” for close to 10 years.  For the last year or so, after the “Amanda” character died in a car crash caused by almost-sister-in-law Lily Winters (played by Christel Khalil), she’s played Amanda’s long lost twin, Hilary Curtis.  And she’s slaying that JUST as hard.  It’s only right the YBF chick nabbed Outstanding Lead Actress at the 2022 Daytime Emmys!

Not sure about y’all, but we’re shocked this is JUST now happening for a black woman, considering Victoria Rowell slayed as the iconic Drucilla Winters on “Y&R” for decades.

The gorgeous 35-year-old star accepted the award in a custom piece by Filipino designer Oliver Tolentio.  Watch her inspiring acceptance speech below:

We LOVE that her co-stars were front and center supporting.

Mishael shared pics from the big night, and her Badgley Mischika after party look, saying:

“It wasn’t a dream! We did this. We all made this moment possible. I am so blessed to be living in a time, where this could be a part of my story. Let’s keep breaking those ceilings and changing the world – together #daytimeemmywinner #changingtheworld #breakingglassceilings #blm #inthistogether #yr @youngandrestlesscbs @theolivertolentino @badgleymischka @daytimeemmys @sptv @iambiancaharris @hairbyregina”

She even re-created Faye Dunaway’s iconic poolside pics after she won the Best Actress Oscar in 1977.

Loves it!  Congrats Mishael!
