Over the last five years, “Black Love” has served up intimate conversations and authentic love stories from some of America’s favorite Black couples. But, as the saying goes, all good things must come to an end.
OWN has renewed fan favorite “Black Love” for a sixth and final season. The series quickly grabbed the attention of African-Americans and became one of the network’s top rated series.
The final season will feature Remy Ma & Papoose, DJ Envy & Gia Casey, Eric Bellinger & La’Myia Good, Adrienne “Gammy” Banfield Norris & Rodney Norris, Kel & Asia Mitchell, Melanie Fiona & Jared Cotter, Mike Hill & Cynthia Bailey, Ashley Blaine Featherson Jenkins & Darroll Jenkins, Sonequa Martin-Green & Kenric Green, Alimi & Dahn Ballard, JB Smoove & Shahidah Omar, Jeannette “JR” Reyes & Robert Burton, Ray & Rosalyn Singleton, Kier & Noèmie Gaines, MyLin & Lindsay Stokes Kennedy, Peter & Amber Saji, Virgil & Mary Toombs, and creators Codie & Tommy Oliver.
Created by husband-and-wife executive producers Codie and Tommy Oliver, the docuseries explores the many different love journeys of everyday couples, social media influencers, business professionals, and entertainers as they become one. Codie and Tommy Oliver – who launched the show as newlyweds – created “Black Love” to showcase authentic, honest, emotional, and transparent love stories from Black couples. The increased representation of Black marriages resonated with its viewers, causing it to rake in ratings.
“Black Love is a much-needed docu-series that has inspired so many viewers to expand how they look at love and relationships. We are thankful for the couples who provided transparency and shared their Black Love with us,” said Tina Perry, OWN President.
“Their commitment to increase representation and create transparency around marriage in the Black community via the series as well as their company Black Love, Inc. (which includes Blacklove.com, the Black Love Plus app, a thriving podcast network, and socials that exceed 70M monthly impressions) has made Black Love cool again,” OWN said in a press release.
