Beyoncé earns first Daytime Emmy nomination

Beyoncé was nominated for Outstanding Original Song for the theme to her mother’s Facebook Watch series, “Talks with Mama Tina.”

Beyoncé has reached yet another milestone with her first Daytime Emmy nomination. The 28-time Grammy Award winner earned a nomination for Outstanding Original Song after writing the theme song to her mother Tina Knowles-Lawson’s Facebook Watch series, Talks with Mama Tina.

Blue Ivy, Sir, and Rumi also performed the opening of the theme song with the Lemonade singer, PEOPLE reported. Knowles-Lawson said she was thrilled that her daughter and grandkids could participate in her show, which features Knowles-Lawson having intimate conversations with guests while eating her homemade gumbo.

“Thank you to my baby @beyonce and my beautiful grandbabies for making this special theme song for the show,” Knowles-Lawson said on Instagram when the show was announced. “Are you guys ready to watch?”

Talks with Mama Tina premiered on Facebook Watch last December. Guests have included Kelly Rowland, Zendaya, Chloe and Halle Bailey, Tiffany Haddish, Kevin Hart, and Ciara.

While “Talks With Mama Tina Theme Song” is Beyoncé’s first Daytime Emmy nomination, she has been nominated for eight Primetime Emmys throughout her career.

The “Crazy In Love” singer received her first Emmy nomination in 2013 for her Super Bowl Halftime performance, which also featured the other two-thirds of Destiny’s Child, Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams. She earned another in 2015 for On the Run Tour: Beyoncé and Jay Z, a televised concert special on HBO.

In 2016, Beyoncé earned two more Primetime Emmy nominations for her visual album Lemonade on HBO. Her Netflix documentary, Homecoming, which chronicled her 2018 Coachella performance, earned her four nominations in 2019, PEOPLE reported.

Beyoncé’s first Daytime Emmy nomination comes after she received her first Academy Award nomination for Best Original Song after co-writing “Be Alive” for King Richard. Beyoncé opened the Oscars telecast by performing the song at tennis courts in Compton, where Richard Williams trained Venus and Serena Williams.

The 2022 Daytime Emmy Awards will air on June 24 on CBS. The ceremony will also stream on Paramount+.
