The documentary is set to take a deep dive into the superstar’s life, covering big moments like her Super Bowl and Inauguration performances
Netflix is about to get the J. Lo treatment. That’s right, the streamer has announced Halftime, a documentary promising an “intimate peek behind the curtain” in the life of Jennifer Lopez.
Before launching on Netflix a week later, Halftime will have its world premiere as the opening night film at the Tribeca Festival.
“Halftime offers an intimate peek behind the curtain revealing the grit and determination that makes Jennifer Lopez the icon she is, from her performances onscreen and on stages around the world, to her Super Bowl Halftime show, to the recent Presidential inauguration,” the official synopsis reads.
Directed by Amanda Micheli, the project focuses on all aspects of the superstar, marking her “next chapter.”
“And it’s only the beginning,” the synopsis continues. “Halftime serves as the kickoff to the second half of Lopez’s life, as she lays bare her evolution as a Latina, a mother, and an artist, taking agency in her career and using her voice for a greater purpose.”
Lopez herself took to Instagram to celebrate the documentary. She wrote to her followers, “It’s just the beginning. Halftime, a @Netflix Documentary about Jennifer Lopez, releasing June 14.”
As theGrio previously reported, it’s been a busy year (and week) for the “Jenny From the Block” singer. Lopez recently announced her re-engagement to Ben Affleck with a special social media post.
Affleck and Lopez rekindled last year, 17 years after they broke off their first engagement. While he is not named in the description, we’ll be sure to keep our eyes peeled for insights into her love life when Halftime premieres on June 14.
