- The 22-year-old Parsons School of Design graduate garnered the fashion world’s attention after attending President Joe Biden’s inauguration, where she wore Miu Miu and Batsheva-designed ensemble. Her fashion background and newfound public awareness led IMG Models to sign her.
- When asked why IMG signed her, the agency’s president Ivan Bart said she “communicates this moment in time” and that Emhoff exudes “cheekiness and joy.” The model also explained her surprise at being chosen for IMG Models; she told the New York Times that she never thought of joining them as a child. Additionally, she mentioned she held self-confidence issues, so “it is intimidating and scary to go into this world that is hyper-focused on you and the body.”
- Emhoff modeled at a digital show for New York Fashion Week just one month later. Emhoff paraded around in several coats designed by Proenza Schouler; the company’s designers stated they did this because they knew she could turn heads when wearing coats.
- Emhoff is Vice President Kamala Harris’ stepdaughter. Harris frequently shows pride in her stepdaughter; recently, she posted a picture of them on Instagram in which she congratulated Emhoff for graduating from Parsons. In her caption, the Vice President reminded her stepdaughter to “keep dreaming with ambition.”
As of late, Harris has not mentioned her feelings on Emhoff’s international debut. Nevertheless, Harris and Emhoff hold a close relationship.
