Leona Lewis Calls Michael Costello Out After Chrissy Tiegen Accusations

The “Bleeding Love” singer said Michael Costello shouldn’t talk, as he humiliated her once before a 2014 charity show.

What We Know:

  • Lewis took to the Stories section on Instagram to talk about her experience with the designer. This comes after Costello’s post in which he declared model Chrissy Tiegen bullied him for seven years. Lewis stated the designer made her feel very “uncomfortable and awkward” at a dress fitting because she “wasn’t the body type required.” The vocalist also claims he did not show up to the final fitting and refused to dress her. She even announced his behavior left her with deep insecurities.

  • She proceeded to defend Tiegen’s apology. Lewis wrote that she believes that when people apologize and show “rehabilitation for their actions,” they should feel embraced, not ashamed.

“We all make mistakes, I know I have, but at this time I feel that when people apologize (Chrissy) and show sincere remorse and rehabilitation for their actions, we should embrace them and not try and kick them when they’re down,” she said.

  • Additionally, Lewis mentions she never told Michael about her emotions, so it may come as a shock to him. Despite this, she thinks Costello should not judge Tiegen, as “bullying comes in many different forms.” Even though she intended to call out Costello’s behavior, she wanted to ensure her followers she would never diminish his feelings.
  • Costello quickly responded to Lewis’s statement on his own page; Costello showed his followers an email which one of the singer’s stylists sent him. In the document, the stylist requests that Costello let Lewis wear one of his designs for her May American Idol performance.

  • According to Insider, Lewis’ team gave Costello seven days’ notice before the charity event. Alongside this, the singer declined several outfits he presented to her. Furthermore, he felt “blindsided” and hurt by her comments because she never opened up about her feelings. In addition, Costello told Insider that Lewis and his team have worked together since 2013.
  • After he shared the screenshot, he created a long apology to Lewis. In it, he tells her he would like to hold a “heart-to-heart conversation” about what happened.

On Wednesday, Lewis took to her Stories section again and thanked Costello for his apology. Furthermore, she hoped he healed from his trauma soon and urged him to “spread love”.
