- J. Wright is a multiplatinum songwriter and has been arrested on murder charges. Authorities say he killed his girlfriend on Mother’s Day. Police in Davenport, Iowa, responded to a call about a disturbance in a home. They arrived shortly after 1:30 p.m, where they found Wilana Bibbs’ body.
- Bibbs had been shot, and paramedics pronounced Bibbs dead at the scene. Soon afterward, Police arrested Justin L. Wright. Police say that Wright and Bibbs were dating, but it’s unclear how long they had been dating. Bibbs was only 20 years old.
- Wright owned an Atlanta-based company, Camp Entertainment Worldwide. He has also worked with Gucci Mane, Bow Wow, and Omarion. Wright has not yet entered a plea and is being held on a $500,000 cash bond. He has been charged with first-degree murder.
- In his bond hearing, Wright requested a court-appointed lawyer because he claimed he had been sleeping in hotels. Wright is currently being held in Scotts County Jail, and his preliminary hearing is scheduled for May 20th. Wright is facing life in prison if convicted.
