Miami Spring Breakers Arrested, Accused of Drugging, Raping Woman Who Later Died

The two suspects, Evoire Collier and Dorian Taylor, hail from Greensboro, North Carolina.

What We Know:

  • Collier and Taylor were captured on video entering a hotel room with a girl who turned up dead hours later inside. The two men are being accused of drugging, raping, and stealing from a woman who later died at the hotel. Both men are officially charged with sexual battery, burglary, burglary with battery, petty theft, and fraudulent use of a credit card. Christine Englehardt was from Pennsylvania and was discovered after The Albion Hotel called paramedics and police officers.
  • Authorities arrived at the scene and discovered the woman semi-nude and deceased in her room’s bed. The case is still being investigated, and Miami Beach Detective Luis Alsina says lab work will be performed on the victim. Alsina obtained security footage that captured the pair of men entering the room and leaving in less than an hour. During interrogation, the suspects confirm that they gave Englehardt a “green pill,” but it is unclear if she willingly took the drug.
  • Authorities are still waiting on the results of the medical examiner’s toxicology report to explain how exactly Englehardt died. She was only 24 years old, which is around the same age as the suspects, who are both in their early twenties as well. The police report on the incident notes that the victim’s heavy intoxicated state meant she could not provide consent. After they had sex with the victim, the two suspects left her unconscious and allegedly stole her cash, credit cards, and phone, then left her in the room.
  • The suspects had a hearing on Monday and were denied bond by Circuit Judge Mindy Glazer.
  • Miami Beach recently issued a state of emergency as tens of thousands of people attended the city for Spring Break amidst a pandemic. More than 1,000 people have been arrested, and 80 guns were seized.

According to City Manager Raul Aguila, more than half of the Miami Beach arrests were from individuals out of state.
