Three young children were found stabbed to death in a Los Angeles apartment.
What We Know:
- The children have been identified as a 3-year-old, 2-year-old, and 6-month-old baby. The victims were discovered on Saturday morning at around 9:30 a.m. by their grandmother on the 8000 block of Reseda Boulevard in Los Angeles, California.
- According to ABC 7, when firefighters and paramedics arrived at the apartment, the children were pronounced dead at the scene. The children’s mother, 30-year-old Liliana Carrillo, was missing at the time police arrived at the apartment and believed to be the prime suspect.
- Soon after the Los Angeles Police Department began to search for the mother, they received reports that Carrillo was driving her car and heading north on Interstate 5 on her way to Ponderosa when she got in an altercation in the Bakersfield area. Authorities stated that she proceeded to abandon her car and carjack another vehicle. About an hour later, Carrillo was arrested and taken into custody in Tulare County.
- Investigators discovered on Sunday that Carrillo was involved in a tense child custody dispute, according to the children’s father Erik Denton and court documents. Anyone with more information is urged to contact the LAPD by phone at (213) 486-6890 or email at rhdtipline@lapd.online.
Apartment neighbor Darcy McGinn told reporters, “Everyone we’ve talked to is so affected by this. How could this happen? Especially to one so innocent.”
