FBI Releases New Video of Person Planting Bombs Before Capitol Riot

The FBI has released evidence of someone who is suspected of planting bombs following the raid of Capitol hill that took place earlier this year.

What We Know:

  • On January 6th, an attempt to overthrow the nation’s capital was attempted. According to reports, the attackers were Trump Supporters acting on the former president’s claims, such as there being voter fraud and the election being stolen from him. Officials are claiming that this attack on the nation’s Capitol made a perfect distraction for the bombing suspect to make his move.
  • “Those were diversionary tactics to pull resources away from the hill in advance of the attack,” said Former Capitol Police Chief Steven Sund. Reports note that the bomber seemed to have both the Democratic and Republican parties in mind when it came to planting bombs. The video released shows the suspect deploying the weapons in an alley behind the Headquarters of the  Republican National Committee office and near a bench by the Headquarters of the Democratic National Committee office.
  • The FBI has since then been able to release details specific to the suspect that day, such as what he was wearing and what the bombs consisted of. The intel shows that the suspect was wearing a gray hoodie and Nike AirMax speed turf shoes and that the bombs were constructed of galvanized pipe, kitchen timers, and black powder. The Bureau reported that the bombs were fully capable of exploding, although they didn’t detonate.
  • The agency is hoping someone will provide details that will lead to the suspect’s arrest. “We need public help in identifying the suspect, so he doesn’t harm himself or anyone else,” said the assistant director of the FBI’s Washington field office, Steven D’ Antuono.

The FBI is now offering a $100,000 reward for any information that will help lead to the suspect’s arrest.
