A San Francisco couple is being held on $2.2 million bails each after a helpless infant suffered at the hands of its sinister primary caretakers.
What We Know:
- On the evening of February 4, local authorities received a phone call from a Marriot Inn Hotel claiming that a couple had reported their infant baby wasn’t breathing and headed to a hospital. A second phone call to authorities came 30 minutes later from Kaiser Permanente Hospital reporting that an infant had just been admitted and was not breathing.
- Autopsy reports reveal that the child had an array of sufferings. These include a broken femur, facial scarring, dehydration, malnourishment, bruising, thermal burns, seven fractured ribs, bleeding inside the skull, and a skull fracture. Authorities arrested the couple after conducting several interviews and obtaining a search warrant to forage their hotel room. It was there that police found drug paraphernalia.
- The couple has 2 surviving children that were taken into protective custody before being turned over to Child Family Services.
- Darn and Northington are both being charged with murder, felony child abuse, felony assault on a child causing death, and enhancement of willful harm causing injury or death. At this time, authorities have not released any information on the cause of this incident.
Although an argument for accidental death may have been viable, had it not been for the brutal details written the initial autopsy, other details on the incident convey that this couple is not fit to take care of children.
