Long Island Cops Arrest Man for Allegedly Burning Human Corpse in Backyard

Police responded to a 911 call after neighbors reported a fire started early Saturday morning.

What We Know:

  • According to Fox News, neighbors reported a fire at a Long Island home on Mastic Boulevard W. and Windsor Place at around 2:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 26th. When officers arrived, they discovered a human corpse burning on the property.
  • Shirley, Suffolk County Police arrested 20-year-old Peter Pendzinski at the scene. According to ABC News, Pendzinski is believed to be a resident of the Long Island property, which belongs to his father. He is accused of killing a man and then setting the corpse on fire in his backyard.
  • After the fire was extinguished, the body was sent to Suffolk County Medical Examiner’s office to identify the victim and determine the cause of death. Pendzinski was taken to a nearby hospital to be evaluated and receive treatment for non-life-threatening injuries.
  • Peter Pendzinski was then charged with second-degree murder and is set to be arraigned in First District Court in Central Islip at a later date.

Police have not released a motive behind the murder and are continuing to investigate the incident.
