Gabrielle Union and Keith Powers will be starring in the upcoming Netflix series, The Perfect Find.
What We Know:
- The Perfect Find was originally a bestselling book written by Tia Williams back in 2016. According to an exclusive Deadline interview, Netflix’s small screen rom-com adaptation of the novel will be brought to life by writer Leigh Davenport, director Numa Perrier, financing by AGC studios, and production by Gabrielle Union’s ‘I’ll Have Another’ company. Jeff Morrone, Tommy Oliver, and Codie Elaine Oliver of Confluential Films will also be involved in producing the show.
- The story follows Gabrielle Union as the main character, Jenna Jones. Jenna is a middle-aged woman looking for a fresh start in her life after getting a new job as a beauty journalist. However, when her new boss, Darcy, quickly becomes a frenemy, she finds herself growing fond of Eric, the company’s new videographer. As her relationship with Eric grows, things get complicated when she discovers he is Darcy’s son.
- Keith Powers, who is set to play Eric, is mostly known for his previous roles in Straight Outta Compton, The Tomorrow War, and The New Edition Story. Gabrielle Union, who has starred in a number of television and film roles, is most known for her performances in Bring It On, Being Mary Jane, and Breaking In.
- This is said to be another move toward Hollywood domination for Union. Just last month, Vulture reported Union’s involvement in producing a half-hour scripted comedy called New Money. Union is said to be working with journalist, Kelley Carter, and former ESPN star and podcaster, Jemele Hill to create the Showtime feature.
Netflix has not announced a released date for the series, but we’re looking forward to seeing this rom-com come to life!
