Texas Teen Brothers Fatally Shot While Sitting In Car Parked in Driveway

In Texas, two teenage brothers are dead after they were shot while sitting in a car parked in a driveway, authorities say.

What We Know:

  • Caitlin Espinosa, a public information officer for the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office, stated the shooting happened on Saturday around 8:04 p.m. when police got a call regarding multiple gunshot victims in front of a home in Rosharon, Texas.
  • Deputies came to the scene to discover Jonathan Massey, 17, and Devin Massey, 15, murdered inside of a car sitting on the driveway, Espinosa expresses to PEOPLE. Another male victim was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries.
  • Espinosa mentions the other victim, who officials have not identified by name, is in stable condition as of Monday. According to officials, preliminary information from a witness suggests multiple suspects in masks approached the three victims in their vehicle and began shooting.

  • Investigators think there was an exchange of shots at the scene before the suspects left the scene. As Espinosa reported, one person was arrested at the scene while investigators worked to know his involvement but were later released from custody.
  • A family friend of the Massey brothers, Rebekak Foley, mentioned to ABC 13 that the brothers had just arrived at the home from the grocery store when they were killed. “It was a random act of violence,” Foley stated. “They had no chance.”
  • Jonathan, known as Jojo, was a junior at Ridge Point High School, and his brother Devin was just a freshman in high school.
  • “Our children were randomly murdered last night, and we would like to ask for prayers and justice,” the family expressed in a statement made to KPRC-TV on Sunday. “It is beyond senseless and cruel to kill our babies under any circumstances, even more so without rhyme or reason. God is the head of our family, and Jojo and Devin are now walking streets of gold and wearing wings over us left behind. As parents, we ask for any leads, big or small.”

GoFundMe campaign was created to meet the brothers’ funeral expenses. As of Monday, it has grown more than $38,000.
