Tired of sitting in your at-home office? Moving to the state of Hawaii might be the change of scenery you need!
What We Know:
- Hawaii has announced a new program called ‘Movers and Shakas‘, which is a plan that would allow out of state remote workers free round-trip tickets to Oahu to temporarily move during the coronavirus pandemic.
- Like most tourist destinations, Hawaii is economically suffering during the pandemic. The program is their first move to get people to the islands. Anyone who applies for the program must commit to living in Hawaii for at least 30 days. They will be accepting applications starting December 15th of this year.
- Jason Higa, program founder, said in a news release:
“Now that many people have the choice to work remotely, there’s an opportunity for former local residents to return home and for out-of-state individuals and families to live and work from Hawai‘i for a longer period of time. We believe this program will attract many former Hawai‘i residents and professionals seeking a safe, warm environment to continue living their normal lives while contributing to the Hawai‘i community.”
- According to People Magazine, guests will also receive promotional perks for local businesses, hotels, and activities staying on the island. However, it is also expected that visitors commit a few hours a week to engage in community work for local non-profits.
It seems like paradise is only an application away!
