Company Turns Millions in Profits Bringing Call-Center Jobs to Black Communities

A call center company, Chime Solutions, was brought into black communities and made a difference in people’s lives. One person’s idea was able to help so many people in a matter of time.

What We Know:

  • Chime Solutions is a black-owned company that provides outsourcing services for small businesses as well as some Fortune 500 companies. CEO Mark Wilson said, “Our primary focus is to address the issue of economic mobility, creating opportunities in under-resourced communities”. He plans to place more in other locations as well.
  • Wilson set a goal to provide at least 10,000 jobs across 10 cities that were mostly in black communities. The company is based out of Metro-Atlanta, in Clayton County. The call center is located at Southlake Mall in the previous building for JC Penny. At the time, the mall was bankrupt and as Omar Hawk, Chime’s vice president of operations in Georgia, stated on NBC news, “Southlake Mall was going to fail”. That’s no longer the issue.
  • 1,500 people are employed at the location in Clayton County and they appear to have more women than men. Most of these women are single mothers who need to make an income and provide for their families.
  • The site also creates another 300 indirect jobs and benefits neighboring businesses, too, according to a University of Georgia economist who analyzed Chime’s economic impact for The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
  • One of the employees, Taylor Pride, works at the Red Bird Mall (now Southwest Center Mall). She stated that it was “too good to be true”. She also says that Chime pays a respectable wage and that they came to one of the places where they know people needed help. Needless to say, Pride is happy that this opportunity came to her community and is making a difference in her life.

Chime Solutions is still a relatively new company and it’s only going to expand larger. Keep your eyes open for the next location that may be in your city.
