Prince Harry finds it “devastating” that he will not be reinstated as Captain General of the Royal Marines after a video shows the Duke of Sussex getting involved in the presidential election, alongside his wife Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex.

- There are many strict rules that are imperative for the Royal Family to follow, one of them being to never express opinions and thoughts on political matters. In summation, no involvement in politics. The Duke of Sussex, Prince Harry, just broke that rule after being seen on video alongside his wife and the Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, urging Americans to vote.
- “Every four years we are told the same thing, that this is the most important election of our lifetime,” Markle said in the video. “But this one is. When we vote, our values are put into action and our voices are heard. Your voice is a reminder that you matter because you do and you deserve to be heard.”
- Prince Harry then cuts in to inform people that he will not be able to vote in this election and could not vote in the UK his entire life, but he encouraged people to “reject hate speech, misinformation, and online negativity”.
- As a result of this video, Prince Harry will not be reinstated after his 12-month review and will be replaced by his older brother Prince William, a Royal Navy spokesperson confirmed.
- Royal reporter Richard Palmer tweeted that the news about Prince William replacing his brother didn’t mention Prince Harry in the papers but “will undoubtedly be a blow to him if this happens”.
- “The Sussexes’ intervention in the US presidential election, no matter how carefully worded, was deemed by palace officials to have crossed a line,” Palmer’s tweet continued. “It’s likely to have effects.”
The couple did quit in March as senior royals and understood that they were splitting from Royal Family and stepping away from royal duties. The Duke told Commandant General Royal Marines Matthew Holmes that he was devastated to step down, feeling as though he was “letting people down”.
