Tyler Herro Has NBA’s Top-Selling Jersey After Breakout Performance

Miami Heat rookie Tyler Herro made history Wednesday night with an epic 37-point performance in a victory over the Boston Celtics. As of Thursday, he had the best-selling jersey in the NBA.

What We Know:

  • According to Fanatics, the official brand of NBA merchandise, Herro’s jersey outsold all other player jerseys in their network of stores. He led the Heat to a 112-109 victory over the Celtics to take a commanding 3-1 series lead.
  • Herro shocked everyone with his electric play on Wednesday night. The first-year player has earned a solid place in the Heat’s rotation and has contributed a lot in these playoffs. He never seems to be afraid of the big stage and has a knack for hitting timely shots, but he elevated to another level on Wednesday.
  • Herro led all scorers with 37 points, 17 of which came in a closely contested fourth quarter. Herro is known for his three-point shot, and he hit five of them this game, but he cooked the Celtics from all over the court. Anytime the Celtics came close, Herro had the answer. With four minutes left, Herro pulled up for a deep isolation three over All-NBA defender Marcus Smart and nailed it.

  • Herro, 20, was relatively unheralded coming out of Kentucky and fell to the 13th pick in the 2019 draft. He had a solid first season averaging 13.5 points while shooting 38 percent from three, but he didn’t turn any heads. Herro cemented himself in the history books on Wednesday, scoring the most points in a playoff game for a 20-year-old since Magic Johnson in 1980. He’s also the youngest player in NBA history to score 30 or more points in a conference finals game. Herro is so young that he’s the first player born in the 2000s to play in a conference finals.
  • NBA Twitter had fun with Herro’s performance and his teammates had fun too. Jimmy Butler showed up to the Heat’s next practice in Herro’s high school jersey.

With a 3-1 series lead, the Heat are now one win away from their first NBA Finals appearance since 2014. Game 5 is Friday night.
