Houston Rockets forward Danuel House Jr. faces an NBA probe for allegedly allowing a female COVID-19 testing official into his room. He could possibly be ruled out for the rest of the Rockets’ series against the Los Angeles Lakers.
What We Know:
- The NBA probe was originally reported by ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski and Tim MacMahon. House sat out Game 3 for what the Rockets listed as “personal reasons”. He is currently under investigation for allegedly allowing a female COVID-19 testing official into his hotel room. House has denied any violation.
- House will likely not be available for Game 4 of the series. The league is considering a 10-day quarantine for the alleged violation. The Players Association is discussing a resolution with league officials on House’s behalf.
- The 10-day quarantine is what the league has handed down to other players for breaking the rules. Bruno Caboclo and Richaun Holmes both spent ten days in quarantine for crossing the bubble’s perimeter and Lou Williams also got it for his infamous Magic City pit stop. If the NBA finds House in violation of their protocols, he would likely miss the rest of the second round.
- House has been a pivotal player in the Rockets rotation for the last two seasons. He entered the league as an undrafted prospect and had to earn his stripes in the G-League. He has carved out an important role with the Rockets as their 6th man, playing solid defense and shooting it well from the three. House has averaged 11.4 points and 5.8 rebounds per game.
The Rockets certainly missed House in their Game 3 loss on Tuesday and they could be without him for the rest of the series. Game 4 between the Lakers and Rockets is on Thursday. The Lakers lead 2-1.
