Known Fox News host Tucker Carlson, went on the air to talk about the current state of Kenosha, Wisconsin after the shooting of Jacob Blake. He was aided by footage of the ongoing protests and viral video of Kyle Rittenhouse, the 17-year-old responsible for fatally shooting two protesters during demonstrations in the city Tuesday evening.
What We Know:
- Rittenhouse, who was tracked down back to his hometown of Antioch, Illinois, was arrested and charged with first-degree murder on Wednesday. Wisconsin authorities allege he crossed the state border in possession of a semiautomatic rifle, to join another group of heavily armed white vigilantes claiming to “assist” in protecting the public property in Kenosha.
Kenosha devolved into anarchy because the authorities abandoned the people. Those in charge, from the governor on down, refused to enforce the law. They’ve stood back and watched Kenosha burn. Are we really surprised that looting and arson accelerated to murder? pic.twitter.com/oul2KUiDi3

- On Tucker Carlson Tonight, Carlson stated, “so are we really surprised that looting and arson accelerated to murder?” He added, “How shocked are we that 17-year-olds with rifles decided they had to maintain order when no one else would?”
- Ever since Jacob Blake, a 29-year-old Black man, was shot seven times by police in the back, Kenosha has been slammed with protests and riots. According to the attorneys for Blake’s family, they explained that Blake was only trying to de-escalate a situation in the neighborhood when he walked away from police who arrived at the scene and attempted to retreat back into his car.
- During the broadcast, Carlson showed various clips of the chaos ensuing in Kenosha and claimed that other major media outlets have been trying to downplay the situation. One censored clip actually showed the moment and aftermath of a victim getting shot in the head, while nearby samaritans attempted to stop the bleeding before paramedics arrive.
“We do know why it all happened, though. Kenosha has devolved into anarchy, the authorities in charge of the city abandoned it. People in charge, from the governor of Wisconsin on down, refused to enforce the law,” Carlson retorted.
- The 51-year-old Fox News host has given the Black Lives Matter (BLM) movement much criticism in the past few months. Ever since the death of George Floyd at the hands of Minneapolis police, he’s continually resorted to fearmongering about the anti-racism protests all over the U.S. Often times he refers to BLM as “poison” or states that protests over a Black man’s death are a “threat to every American”.
The controversial TV host remains unchallenged and continues to appear on the Fox News airwaves even though he consistently fans the fire on hot topics such as social injustice and white supremacist theories. Most recently, Carlson has stated that “white supremacy is a hoax”.
