After being shot in the foot after a party in the Hollywood Hills, the rapper had previously refused to name her assailant but now she is opening up.
What We Know:
- Megan Thee Stallion, whose real name is Megan Jovon Ruth Pete, made the comments during an Instagram Live session on Thursday evening, wherein she also criticized the public for spreading misinformation on the matter. “Yes … Tory shot me. You shot me and you got your publicist and people to these blogs lying… Stop lying!”
- Thee Stallion also took to Twitter on Thursday night with a warning, “Lie one more time and ima quit sparing you”.
- Initial reports indicated that Megan’s foot was cut on a piece of broken glass, but the rapper clarified that she was shot in an Instagram post on July 15th.
- The shooting happened in Los Angeles following a pool party at the mansion of Kylie Jenner. After an altercation in a vehicle belonging to Lanez, Megan Thee Stallion was shot while walking away from the vehicle. Megan has denied rumors that she attacked Lanez before the shooting occurred.
- The injuries suffered by the rapper did not include any broken bones or damaged tendons. She had to have surgery to remove the bullets, but she is still able to walk and expects to make a full recovery. On August 19th she posted and then deleted photos of her injuries, noting that she had just had her stitches out.
- Torey Lanez, whose legal name is Daystar Peterson, was arrested after police searched his car and found a concealed weapon. He was then released on bail. After the incident was over, Megan Thee Stallion reportedly didn’t speak to police because she, “didn’t want us to get in no more trouble”. Area police told KTLA that they are aware of Megan’s newest comments on the event, and detectives are investigating the matter.
- Lanez has not made himself available for comment on Megan’s newest statements. At time of publish no new charges have been filed against him. He is due in court on October 13th.
Though she is still recovering, Megan Thee Stallion is taking the incident in stride. Since May, she has broken records and topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart twice while collaborating with Beyoncé and Cardi B.
