Senior Director of A&R at Capitol Records, Quinn Coleman, also known by his moniker DJ Spicoli, died Monday. He was only 31. No details have been revealed over Coleman’s death, but his unfortunate passing has made a ripple through social media and the music industry.

- Coleman was a popular figure in the music world, especially in Washington, D.C. where he founded a music festival named “Trillectro”. Coleman’s parents are Randy Coleman and Debra Lee, the former CEO of BET.

- Coleman’s mother Debra Lee served several leadership roles at BET, including CEO from the years 1986 up until 2018. Her son Coleman, ended up growing up alongside the brand and was fortunate enough to be raised as yet another beloved edition to the BET family.
- His family released a statement to acknowledge his passing. “Quinn Coleman, son of Debra Lee and Randy Coleman, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, August 16th at the age of 31. The cause of death is unknown,” it read.
“Quinn was a loving son, brother, cousin and friend, a passionate DJ and A&R executive with a bright future ahead of him,” part of the statement read.
- Coleman’s family is currently in a state of mourning and ask for privacy during this difficult time, as they grieve as a collective. Further details on the specific cause of death or funeral service have yet to come out as of late.

Jeff Vaughn, the current President of Capitol Records, also spoke up about his death. “We are all devastated to learn of the untimely passing of our colleague and friend, Quinn Coleman. He will be greatly missed. We offer our deepest condolences to Quinn’s family and loved ones at this extremely difficult time,” he said.
