Michael Jordan and the Jordan Brand announced that they will be teaming up to donate $100 million to fight against systematic racism and promote racial equality.

- Michael Jordan’s Jordan Brand has pledged $100 million over the next 10 years to specific organizations in order to aid the fight against systematic racism. The pledge focuses on ensuring racial equality, social justice, and widening the access to great education.
- The subsidiary of Nike and Michael Jordan announced the pledge on June 5th. On the same day and in the wake of growing racial tensions, Michael Jordan went to Twitter and stated, “Black Lives Matter. This isn’t a controversial statement.”

- The pledge will be allocated to various organizations. $1 million will be donated to the Formerly Incarcerated and Convicted People and Families Movement. Another $1 million will be donated to the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund Incorporation. $500,000 will be allocated to the Black Voters Matter organization.
- The pledge recognizes a key method of igniting change at the polls this year. Black voter suppression did not end with poll taxes or literacy tests, there is a continued effort to prohibit people of color through structural barriers.
