Italy police uncovered cocaine stuffed inside coffee beans that were hollowed-out after the package was addressed to a fictional movie character.
What We Know:
- According to the Guardia di Finanza, officers found 130 grams of cocaine in a four-pound shipment of coffee beans that came through Milan’s Malpensa Airport from Colombia. After inspecting the package, customs police realized the recipient was Santino D’Antonio, which is the Mafia boss character from the Hollywood movie John Wick: Chapter 2.
- The police revealed in a statement that once they cut open the package that was headed to Florence, they found more than 500 beans that were hollowed-out, filled with cocaine, and resealed using dark brown tape.
- After the police investigated, a 50-year-old Italian man was arrested when he tried to collect the package from a tobacco shop in Florence. The unidentified man, registered as living in the Colombian city of Medellin, was already known by police for previously being arrested on drug charges.
In addition to this, Italy’s Guardia di Finanza seized three containers weighing 15 tons carrying 84 million amphetamines that were produced by ISIS in Syria earlier this month. The shipment that was found in Salerno southwest Italy was worth $1.12 billion and was considered the largest drug hall in the world.
