BeyGOOD, Beyoncé’s philanthropic foundations is partnering with the NAACP to award $100,000 grants to Black-owned businesses that were impacted by COVID-19.
What We Know:
- According to COMPLEX, the Black-Owned Small Business Impact Fund will award grants to businesses in Houston, Atlanta, New York, Los Angeles, and Minneapolis. The goal will be to help these businesses who have been deeply impacted by COVID-19 and who will need help surviving the economic downturn.
- A statement from the NAACP says, “The challenges of Black business owners navigating in the climate cannot be understated, as the effects of uprisings across the nation have led to many businesses being placed in dire straits due to damages and other small business needs.”

- Eligible business in the listed cities will be able to apply for the grant until July 19. The applications will be reviewed between July 20-29, and those who are selected will be notified via Beyonce.com on July 31. Businesses must be a “Black-owned small business owner” and must “provide property damage or replacement estimate” to be considered for the grant.
- During the pandemic, Beyoncé has been trying to uplift Black businesses. She launched a Black Parade Route in June that promoted Black-owned brands, arts, design, and fashion. Beyoncé created BeyGOOD in 2003 intending to inspire people to be kind, to be charitable, and to #BeyGOOD to themselves, others, and the community.
This partnership is Beyoncé’s second act of financial relief during the pandemic. In April, she partnered with Twitter founder Jack Dorsey’s Start Small Fund. They provided $6 million to various organizations during the health crisis.
