NASCAR Team to Run “Stand for the Flag” Car at Indianapolis

Mike Harmon Racing’s drivers will sport a #StandfortheFlag sticker on red, white, and blue cars this weekend at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, according to Racing News.

What We Know:

  • Both of Mike Harmon Racing’s NASCAR Xfinity Series entries will feature ‘Stand for the Flag’ on their cars. This comes just weeks after NASCAR removed a rule requiring members to stand during the National Anthem, opening doors for protests.
  • Kyle Weatherman will drive the No. 47 Chevrolet, while Bayley Currey will drive the No. 74 Chevrolet. Both feature the same logo and color scheme.
  • This is not the first time Mike Harmon Racing has featured politically charged designs on their cars. At Daytona International Speedway, the No. 47 featured a re-elect Donald Trump scheme. This came on the same weekend that the President walked on the field ahead of the Daytona 500.
  • The No. 47 has also displayed a #BackTheBlue slogan in support of police officers across the country. The hood of the car read “Blue Lives Matter.

NASCAR recently banned the Confederate flag from all events and properties, a change that has divided much of the fan base. 50.5% of Racing News’ audience said they disagreed with the idea.
