Former star of The Chi, Jason Mitchell has been arrested Wednesday afternoon on felony weapons and drug charges.
What We Know:
- Jason Mitchell was arrested in Mississippi. The star was booked into Harris County Jail and is facing four felony charges.
- According to TMZ, Mitchell is facing two felony charges for possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute, plus two felony charges for possession of a weapon by a felon.
- The jail records indicate Mitchell was supposedly caught with two guns, including a Glock 19 pistol and a mini Draco AK-47 semi-automatic pistol.
- Harris County records also indicate Mitchell was in possession of marijuana and ecstasy.
- This has been another incident added to the actor’s down spiral.
- Last year, Mitchell was accused of sexual harassment on set by his costar of The Chi, Tiffany Boone. She complained to producers that Mitchell was making her feel uncomfortable on set.
- Jason Mitchell was then drop from the Showtime show, his management team, and fired by his talent agent UTA.
- Mitchell faced similar accusations on the set of the Netflix film Desperados. He was fired after an actress complained about his behavior on set.
- Earlier this year, the actor was sued by Comerica Bank over a $60,000 loan. The loan was taken out in 2016 and payments were made until June 2019.
- The bank stated Mitchell defualted on payments week after losing his job on The Chi. Even though the bank has given multiple demands for payment, the actor has refused to pay. The case is currently on going.
A representattive for the actor told TMZ this morning: “Jason is at home with family right now working on an amazing new project. News stories move fast and often time without all of the facts. This is a misunderstanding and will be resolved shortly. We trust that the court system’s blind justice will protect Jason’s rights and allow him to tell his story.”
