Tarvaris Jackson, a former Minnesota Vikings and Seattle Seahawks quarterback, died in a car crash on the night of Easter Sunday.
What We Know:
- Jackson was killed when his 2012 Chevrolet Camaro “left the roadway, struck a tree, and overturned,” according to a spokesperson from the Alabama Police Department.
- The former quarterback was transported to a hospital where he was pronounced dead. The crash occurred about 7 miles south of Montgomery, where he was raised.
- “One of Tarvaris’ greatest attributes was his positive outlook and approach. He genuinely cared about others, was a good friend and will be missed by family, teammates, and Vikings fans everywhere.” the Vikings Twitter account said in a statement.
- Jackson joined Tennessee State University as the Tigers’ quarterbacks coach in 2019 after coaching at Alabama State, his alma mater, for a year.
- Russel Wilson the current quarterback for the Seattle Seahawks spoke on his former teammate saying: “TJack. . . you will be missed. Praying for your family. . .Love you man”.
Jackson was a second-round draft pick of the Vikings in 2006, starting 12 games in 2007 and going 8-4. He was part of the Seahawks’ Super Bowl championship team in 2014 as Wilson’s backup. Jackson is survived by his wife Lakitta and three children.
