Texas Man Who Fled From Police With Body In Trunk Gets Life In Prison

A local drug dealer convicted of killing a Dallas teenager was sentenced to life in federal prison Tuesday evening following an investigation by the FBI’s Dallas Violent Gangs Safe Streets Task Force.

What We Know:

  • Back In November, following a four-day trial, a federal jury found Freddie Gilbert, 36, guilty of being a felon in possession of a firearm, possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance, discharging a firearm during a drug trafficking crime, and murder resulting from the use of a firearm during a trafficking crime, advised Lovebscott.
  • During the trial, U.S District Judge Jane Boyle gave Gilbert plenty of time and leeway to make his points, then she had enough.
  • Judge Boyle sentenced Gilbert to life in prison without the possibility of parole for the murder of JacQuisha Isaac whose body was found in the trunk of his car following a high speed police chase in 2017.
  • Authorities suspect more victims are out there. Gilbert had bragged about murdering as many as 20 people. Witnesses have told police he once cut someone from their neck to their waist with a machete over a drug theft.
  • According to Dallasnews, Assistant U.S Attorney P.J. Meitl said Gilbert was “the most violent and dangerous criminal he’s ever faced in court in his career. The Dallas man had 15 prior convictions and other drug dealers feared him”.
  • Attorney Neal Cox said, “Far too often, drug trafficking spurs horrific acts of violence. In this case, a known cocaine dealer legally barred from possessing a weapon gunned down an innocent 19-year-old, then shoved her in the trunk like a piece of trash. He will spend the rest of his life behind bars.”
  • Forensic evidence showed that Gilbert shot Isaac through the head while she was sitting in the passenger seat of his car. He then stashed her body in the trunk and took off, prosecutors said. Hours later, Gilbert was apprehended driving more than 110 mph down I-20.

Investigators identified Isaac’s blood inside the car as well as on the clothing Gilbert was wearing when he was apprehended as well as on the revolver he used to kill the young teenager.
