NBA Suspends Season Indefinitely After Player Tests Positive For Coronavirus

On Wednesday evening, the NBA and commissioner Adam Silver made calls to suspend the season “until further notice”.

What We Know:

  • Rudy Gobert, the starting Center for the Utah Jazz tested positive for coronavirus before his game against the Oklahoma City Thunder Wednesday night.
  • “The NBA is suspending game play following the conclusion of tonight’s schedule of games until further notice,” according to an official statements from the league. “The NBA will use this hiatus to determine next steps for moving forward in regard to the coronavirus pandemic.”
  • The league had previously discussed playing games in empty arenas, a decision that LeBron James had spoken in opposition of.
  • Most teams have 15-20 games left in their season before playoffs were set to start after April 15th.
  • Rudy Gobert previously played 32 minutes 2 days prior against the Toronto Raptors.
  • Other teams and players were told to self quarantine if they were in contact with Gobert and the Jazz in the last few weeks.

To make matters worse, Gobert was seen touching mics that were used for the Jazz players’ post game press conference.
